Company History
Founded in 1996 Immediacy released a precursor to its current
content management system in that same year. Ahead of its time, it
used an Internet Explorer browser (then at version 3), extensive
client side scripting and embedded ActiveX controls to produce a
sophisticated browser based web page creation wizard. It also
provided sample templates and integrated uploading to a remote
server.
Version 1 of a broader content management system was released in
1997, with local authorities as the first customers. Typically even
in 1997 local government sites ran to hundreds of pages with a
requirement for twenty or thirty editors and authors across a
number of departments.
Now at version
6.2 the system provides industry strength scalable content
management across the enterprise. Our ASP.NET solutions utilise an
XML based content storage system, powerful WYSIWYG content editor,
drag and drop document importing, comprehensive administrative
control, and the facility for developers to write plug-ins to
enhance both editing and server functionality.
Organisations who
have Immediacy Content Management Systems include the BBC,
JPMorganChase, Avis, Principality Building Society, British
Transport Police, The British Council, National Express, The Hilton
Group, phones 4U, Equal Opportunities Commission, Amicus Trade
Union, British Gypsum, ElanIT, MerseyCare NHS Trust and numerous
local authorities.
In July 2008, Mediasurface was
acquired by Alterian plc. Mediasurface's WCM product,
